- Free modem configuration
- For those who DO NOT intend to use the modem/router included in ENEL's connectivity offer, this page contains the technical information necessary for correct configuration of the customer's device .
- The connection technologies offered by ENEL can be of the FTTC type (mixed Fiber/copper connectivity) or FTTH (Fiber).
- With FTTH technology, the optical fiber arrives directly at home and must be connected to an optical termination called ONT (Optical Network Termination). The WAN port of the modem will then be connected to the electrical port of the ONT by means of a category 5e or higher Ethernet cable.
- With the FTTC line, on the other hand, the classic telephone pair arrives at the customer's home which must be connected to the DSL port of the modem.
Features of the devices:
FTTC:
- VDSL2 standard support (ITU-T G.993.2) up to profile 35b
- Seamless Rate Adaptation (SRA) support
- G.INP (ITU-T G.998.4) retransmission support
- Vectoring support (ITU-T G.993.5)
- Network parameters configurability with the following WAN side settings:
- Tagged PTM encapsulation (VLAN ID 100; CoS 0)
- DHCP client enabled on WAN interface for dynamic IP address acquisition
- IPoE
- Configurability of LAN parameters with the following settings:
- DHCP server enabled for dynamic assignment of addresses to devices connected in the LAN
- Modem operation in routed mode (NAT enabled)
FTTH:
- Gigabit Ethernet Full-Duplex Auto-Sensing WAN with support for the Ethernet 802.1q
- Network parameters configurability with the following WAN side settings:
- VLAN ID 100 or 835 depending on the provider (Fastweb or OpenFiber), CoS 0
- DHCP client enabled on WAN interface for dynamic IP address acquisition
- IPoE
- Configurability of LAN parameters with the following settings:
- DHCP server enabled for dynamic assignment of addresses to devices connected in the LAN
- Modem operation in routed mode (NAT enabled)
ENEL reserves the right to modify at any time the processes and information necessary for the connection of third-party devices based on the evolutions that ENEL's network services and infrastructures will implement in the future.
Additional information:
In the case of using an alternative modem to the one included in the ENEL offer, as required by Agcom resolution no. 348/18/CONS, the customer will assume responsibility for the maintenance of the autonomously chosen device. It will therefore not be possible to use services such as:
- technical assistance from a dedicated ENEL operator for diagnostics and any interventions on the configurations on the device;
- Real time updating of software releases to enrich with new features and improve performance.
